Port Macquarie and arrival in Sydney

In the morning, I took a quick look around Port Macquarie. It has a beautiful coastline and more beautiful beaches. And a whale far out at sea.

We have to keep it short because we're on the clock. We want to return the car today instead of tomorrow. Overnight parking is incredibly expensive in downtown Sydney. And the rental car office closes at 4:30 PM. They can still surf the net afterward. Things to do:

I almost made it to the rental car. I tried to find a gas station in the suburbs of Sydney to fill up the car. It was a nightmare; it took half an hour. You can't fill up on the Sydney freeway, which also runs largely under the city. The fueling trip in a six-lane suburb was also quite challenging for Arthur, who was driving.

According to the website, it was quiet on the Harbour Bridge. And upon arrival, it was indeed quiet, at a leisurely pace of 10-20 km/h. Mm, that's going fast. It's a beautiful bridge, at least from the outside!

With minutes to spare, we found the rental car park. Oops, it's on the other side of the road. And we got lost again; you have to take a five-block detour in Sydney, with lots of one-way traffic. Parking and making closing time were no longer possible, so we ended up parking in the apartment's car park. Another attempt tomorrow.

The manager met us at 5 a.m. The apartment is in a great location right in the city center, near Chinatown.

Another thing about dinner, I ordered from Hungry Jack's, but after fifteen minutes, nothing had happened, and then the cat was out of the bag: someone had pressed the emergency button, and the restaurant's electricity was down. Everyone had to evacuate; they weren't making any more burgers. A second (!) HJ was a five-minute walk around the corner.

In the evening, I walked around Chinatown and Darling Harbour, all within walking distance from here. We're very centrally located, which is nice after so much walking lately (10,000-20,000 steps a day). Impression of Sydney at night:

Labubu figurines are incredibly popular in China; people line up for new ones. Oh, and the supermarket is open until midnight, convenient!
